Blind, Non-English Speaking Teen Goes Viral With Whitney Houston Cover (VIDEO)

A blind teenager from a small fishing village in the Philippines has gone viral after her cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” hit the net.

According to Unilad, the uploader shared that the young singer, Elsie, has never been to school and doesn’t speak English, but was able to memorize the Houston classic and sing it with passion, nonetheless. The song was originally recorded by country star Dolly Parton, but Elsie’s vocal inflections and cadence indicate she was covering Houston’s version taken from the Grammy-winning soundtrack to 1992 film The Bodyguard.

“This is Elsie again with another song,” wrote the video owner. “She is blind since birth, cannot speak English but she memorized these songs and sings like an angel! She has never been to school, never learned English. She listens to songs and learns the song. She has one of the most Amazing voices I have ever heard. She lives in a small fishing village in the Philippines.”
