Jordan Peele to Host CBS’ “The Twilight Zone” Revival

Jordan Peele, The Twilight Zone

Jordan Peele has been tapped to host and narrate The Twilight Zone revival series, CBS announced Thursday.

The writer and director of the hit film Get Out told Variety in August that he’s “terrified” to join the series because of how intimidating it would be to fill Rod Serling’s shoes.

“Why would I ever jump into the most established, pristine shoes in all of the genre? I could rip ‘Twilight Zone’ off and call it something different and not be compared to Rod Serling. So I stepped away from it,” Peele says. “And then several months later, I got another call.”

Monkeypaw, Peele’s production company, is co-producing the new show for CBS All Access, the companies’ streaming video service.

The original Twilight Zone aired from 1959 to 1964, and the new series is said to be a modern reimagining of the original show.

“Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time but prophesied issues of ours,” Peele told Deadline. “I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of The Twilight Zone.”

The series revival is set to air in 2019.
