NFL’s Joshua Perry Retires at 24 After Sixth Concussion

Seattle Seahawk Joshua Perry announced his retirement from football Monday after suffering the sixth documented concussion of his NFL career.

“I’ve recently sustained my sixth documented concussion,” he wrote.

“It wasn’t from a high velocity, big contact play. It was a very pedestrian thing, and that was a huge concern to me. The last thing I want to do is put the health of my brain and my future well being in jeopardy over a game and a paycheck.”

247 Sports Reports the career-ending concussion was suffered during practice last Friday and was the final straw for Perry, who has seen major head trauma since joining the league.

“As for what’s next — I am happy for the opportunity to spend more time in Central Ohio,” he continued. “I plan on getting my real estate license in the near future and I’m going to chase my aspirations in that arena. I also hope to stay close to sports through writing, TV and radio. And lastly but surely not least, I plan on expanding the footprint of the Joshua Perry Family Foundation through some new projects. I’m super excited about these new opportunities! Thanks y’all.”
