Watch the Powerful Trailer for LeBron James’ ‘Shut Up and Dribble’

Showtime released the trailer for Shut Up and Dribble, a three-part docuseries produced by LeBron James, on Friday.

The feature will highlight how Black basketball players have historically used the NBA to help bring forth social change and make political statements.  It is presented by SpringHill Entertainment, a production company started by James and his longtime friend, Maverick Carter.

The trailer ties together soundbites of Martin Luther King, Jr. and clips of Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry expressing disinterest in making a White House Visit in 2017 and other notable moments in basketball, including former Laker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar speaking out against racism.

The docuseries is narrated by former ESPN journalist Jemele Hill, who has critiqued President Donald Trump’s bigoted rhetoric, and directed by filmmaker Gotham Chopra.

“It’s synchronistic that we are releasing this series three days before the midterm elections and it’s my hope that we will contribute to the dialogue that we sorely need in this country about the importance of civic engagement, cultural inclusion, why sports matter (beyond wins and losses), and persistence in the face of struggle,” Chopra said in a release to the sports website Bleacher Report.

Shut Up and Dribble will debut on Showtime on Nov. 3 at 9 p.m. ET.
