Idris Elba Talks Role as Villain in ‘The Fast & The Furious’ Spin-Off

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced British actor Idris Elba would be joining his Fast & The Furious spin-off this past summer. The Golden-Globe winner is now sharing his excitement over the part, taking to Instagram to introduce the world to his character, Brixton.

“The name: BRIXTON. The record: UNDEFEATED. Excited to wreak havoc, hell and mayhem on @therock and @jasonstatham in #HobbsAndShaw as one of the most badass villains the Fast & Furious franchise has ever seen!”

Elba went on, “Feels amazing to be working with @therock and @jasonstatham and to be joining the Fast & Furious family. Coming SUMMER 2019 👊🏾💥 #BRIXTON #TheConsequenceAgent #HellRaiser #BadMan @universalpictures @davidmleitch 📸 @hhgarcia41.”

Hobbs and Shaw is the official name of the spinoff centering on U.S. Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and former criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). The film is scheduled to open in theaters July 26, 2019.

Born and raised in Compton, California, Jessica Bennett began her career as an intern at The Oakland Post, and later, The Source Magazine.
