Jhene Aiko Talks New Music & Being ‘Skinny, but Still Insecure’

Jhene Aiko has made it a habit to be open and honest within her music, and she seems to have taken up the same policy with fans. The California girl recently opened up to her Instagram followers about feeling “insecure,’ while teasing new music.

The “Never Call Me” songstress donned a cropped hoodie, bra and undies in the photo showing off her slim frame. Above the photo, the star wrote, “SKINNY BUT STILL INSECURE,” along with the following caption:

“Meditate on your insecurities. water your flaws. watch them bloom 🌱#mirrormeditation.”

While most fans offered words of encouragement, some chose to inquire about potential new music. The songwriter previewed her “Triggered” freestyle on New Year’s Eve, but there’s been no signs of a full body of work on the way. Fortunately for fans, Aiko may be dropping something sooner than later.

“Is 10 songs enough?” asked Jhené. “Are u ok with them being all freestyled? cuz if so. done.”

Born and raised in Compton, California, Jessica Bennett began her career as an intern at The Oakland Post, and later, The Source Magazine.
